Back in the 'hood

Nice to be back in the neighborhood.

I'm a cook and an eater at heart.  After morning coffee I went out for a walk to the market at the nearest plaza, looking forward to hopefully finding some nice fruit and juice for breakfast.  Found both!  And sticker shock continues this morning -- cost was almost exactly 20% of what it would be at home -- a buck for two nice mangoes, and another buck for a bottle of delicious fresh squeezed orange / carrot juice, purchased from ladies in the market.  And I'm guessing that was probably top dollar special tourist prices.  Both of the sellers seemed pretty happy with the transactions.

Neighborhoods here are marked with the old "cuadernas" (frames) street sign system, from back before the streets all had numbers. Nearest cuaderna to this house is Las Asoldadas (the soldiers), but I walked by two others on the five minute walk to the market -- El Gavilan (the hawk) and La Capervictoroja (Little Red Riding Hood?).  Love this system.

Our house -- Casa Caballito -- Little Horse.  Basic from outside, but it is really great.  Two stories, internal courtyard, plunge pool, veranda.
