'White Nights' in the Baltic

Spent the last few days visiting a trio of terrific Baltic cities -- Tallinn, St Petersburg, Helsinki.  Very different personalities, but they have this in common:  they are far enough north that this time of year is the season called "White Nights".

Sundown last night was 9:30, but the twilight lasted much longer, maybe an hour?  And sunrise this morning was very very early, but it was actually light long before sunrise.  So the period called "night" is very short, and it is really more dim than actually dark.
